Morphettville Park

Originally established in the mid-1950s, Morphettville Park did not engage in competitive fixtures right away, but spent several seasons playing a combination of scratch matches and, in 1958 - the year earmarked as the club's official starting point - games against teams from the Glenelg South West Football Association. The GSWFA’s A2 Grade competition had an uneven number of teams that year, which meant that Morphettville Park always had at least one potential opponent each week throughout the season.

In 1959, the club finally commenced its competitive existence by fielding a team in A2 Grade of the GSWFL, where it gradually gained strength before achieving promotion as premiers in 1963. To the club’s immense credit, its senior team would never experience the ignominy of relegation.

Between 1987 and 2016 the ‘Roos competed in the Southern Football League where they won one A Grade senior flag, while their Division Three side went top a record five times. The 2017 season saw the club embarking on a new phase in its history by competing in the Adelaide Footy League's Division Four competition. It proved to be a highly promising debut season as the 'Roos managed to reach the grand final and although this resulted in a loss at the hands of North Haven there was a significant consolation prize in the shape of promotion to Division Three for the 2018 season. Their first season at the higher level proved to be one of entrenchment with the side winning 6 out of 18 matches to finish third on the ten team premiership ladder.

Perhaps the most noteworthy identity associated with Morphettville Park is Tony McGuinness, who played junior football with the club before embarking on a noteworthy V/AFL career with Footscray and Adelaide.
